Just got an email in my inbox claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs, and that I am entitled to a tax refund. From what I am aware they dont email you such information, and if they do, they will write to you (had it once before. a proper one, long time ago) and they then send you a cheque for the amount
This is what it said : -
After the last annual calculations 2008 - 2009 of your fiscal activity we have
determined that you are eligible
to receive a tax refund of 198.25 GBP
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to process
A refund can be delayed for a variety of reasons.
For example submitting invalid records or applying after the deadline.
Please submit the form attached to your email in order to complete your tax
HM Revenue & Customs
There was a document attached with a form ( I stupidly opened it, but have virus software scanning at the moment)
I am not going to fill it in or return it, unless I can validate it
but the email looks like a proper one to untrained eyes
firstname.lastname@example.org <email@example.com but again will check this out.
website exists, but what makes me think its a fake is that 1 it was emailed 2 it was sent late at night and 3 it says GBP and not £198 or what ever
