Programming a new replacement key fob

    Hi,
Bought an Astra recently, only got 1 key. 1.4L SXi Twinport. 56 plate.

I was thinking of buying a key fob from ebay, buying a new key blade as well, get the blank blade cut to same as car.

For the fob, am I right in thinking there are 2 issues here, alarm and imobiliser ?
Can I programme alarm and imobiliser if I get a hold of OP-COM ?

Is Op-COM and Tech2 the same thing ? Can both be used to clear the service warning lamp etc ?

I see Op-Com on ebay for arounf £40, thinking better spend £40 to get my fob programmed rather than give the £40 to Vauxhall.

    Appreciate any comments.

    Graeme

You will need the car pass that came with the car as well as OP-COM to program the key and transponder

I did not get the car pass when I bought the car, bought it from an auction. Is there any way around this ? Will OP-COM not work if I dont have the car pass ? How can I get the car pass ?

You can order the car pass from vauxhall parts for just over £20. You'll need your reg documents and proof of ID I believe

This is the main security of the car so op-com won't get around it

Some folks tell me that a 2nd hand fob cannot be re-programmed for another car ?

I have the "car pass" and I have the key number.
