    MK4 2.2 airbox

Hi ive read a couple of times about the 2.2 airbox being put on the 2 litre SRI or the GSI, is it possible to put it on my 1.8? and is it really much different to the normal airbox on a 1.8? would it make a diff?

They do this on the 2.0 turbo so that the crossover pipe can be removed & a shorter silicon hose fitted between the airbox/AFM & turbo.

It's only done because of the physical layout of the Z20LET engine.
There is no major power gains.
It's of absolutely no use to your car.

Technically it puts less strain on your turbo :P. You're getting rid of at least one 90 degree bend. might not increase any power :P but it could extend the life of the turbo

So there is a small point of doing it

But yeah back on topic, the 2.2 airbox is useless on a 1.8 engine i'm afraid
