Cool Do you look for full 'DEALER' service history?

When servicing, does anyone care about the difference between full 'DEALER' service history and full service history?

We have a family friend owning a well respected garage and Ive always gone to him for my services, full service with Vauxhall parts, £90 + VAT, Vauxhall want £239 for the exact same and I would trust my garage over Vauxhall as they have shafted me before.

This is the first time Ive had a car where it is worth getting a dealer stamp (thats basically what you pay for) but Im wondering how many people would care when looking at buying it?

    Cheers in advance

hey mate when i am looking at cars as long as there is loads paper work i dont really care if the seller has done services them selfs as long as there is paper work to show this am happy besides like you said all your paying for is a stamp and not a very good job from main dealers. but everyone has a different opinion.

    No I personally don't.
I prefer to use a local guy i trust to do the work needed & do it right.
My local garage will even do my oil/filter change while I wait.

These were the responses I wanted cheers. Only other thing Im bothered about is if something goes bang after my warranty runs out and I complain (I did this with VW about a lupo I had and they paid half the cost of the repair on good will) they could turn around and say well F U you didnt stay faithful to vauxhall so we arnt giving you anything... I think im just going to go to my bloke though!

If you dont have a full main dealer service history then Vauxhall wont entertain a contribution towards repair outside of the 3 years warranty period.

On the other hand I think they would tell me to do one due to me having an after market exhaust, pre-cat pipe, lowered and blue fin wouldnt they?

whilst in warrenty I would always use the dealer (other than changing oil and filter etc) outside of warrenty just a good history with lots of paper work, and the invoices look legitimate then I would be happy.

Just put the lid back on that can of worms. As it is your manufacturers warranty could be declined. Have a look on VXRonline for a few examples.
