    Can you alter offset?

I have some ET35 17" alloys on my car. They currently have 205/45/17 tyres on, and the car is lowered probably more than 40mm on Jamex springs/shocks.

They rub really badly on the front, the rear is fine except when hitting a really big dip in the road, but the front have started to catch the arch on occasion which is not good. I don't think a 40 profile tyre would make much difference either?

Thing is I really like the wheels Is it possible to get the offset altered a little? If they're ET35 then machining say 5mm or a little more off them would bring them down to a more usable ~ET40 offset, but I have no clue if this is either an option or if it is safe?

There is a certain thickness you need so if there is enough ally then yes.

Also fitting 40 profile tyres will probably cure it

I'm not keen on a 40 profile for ride quality really, but I might think about it next tyre change...where would you take wheels to get the offset changed? I perhaps should have asked the refurb place when they were done but I didn't think they'd rub this badly!

would be good if you can get this done! the only thing putting me off lowering mine at the moment is the possibility of the tyres rubbing! I like the wheels but a pain

getting the arches rolled might stop the rubbing

roll the arches and fit lower profile rubber - simple

most places charge about £20-30 a corner to be rolled or DIY it - make ur own roller if u can weld or know someone that can - - - or just use a hammer!

ET35 is certainly not ideal on a +40mm drop but sorting out the profile and rolling should really be your first port of call

Have you actually ran 215/40/17 on your car? IF not then how can you be sure that the ride quality is going to be unacceptable?

Any gd engineering company should be able 2 take off some alloy on the hub thus altering the offset

Profile wise - the ones I have now are fairly harsh to drive on, I can only guess that a lower profile would be harsher still?

I did debate some different springs, something like the -30mm Eibachs or Konis, I don't think any option is going to be cheaper than any other

If you do as turbo mad said it will only cost 40 quid max to get all 4 wheels machined
