    Z20LET coil pack????

Sometimes if I'm lucky I get to drive my lovely zafira GSi, a few months back I noticed that on boost it was holding back but it didn't feel like a misfire. I changed the plugs, put good fuel in, treated it to a drop of redex and changed both BCS's. Oh and part de-restricted the air box. Outcome was slightly better but not cured. No lights on or fault codes by the way.
Anyway money was an issue and it wasn't that bad plus the wife didn't notice it so it got left, and I didn't want to change parts randomly until I cured it.
I drove it the other day in the wet and it was missing like a good un. Then I thought maybe it was the coil pack as this was an unmistakable misfire plus dampness.
The wife went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't fire up, finaly it started and restarted ok but had a really bad misfire from 2000rpm to 3000rpm then the management light came on but went out on next start up.
I was just wandering if anyone has had the same fault, does it sound like a coil pack, do they get worse?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Jim

Every time my coilpack played up it would also bring the ecu light on and misfire, but as soon as I turned the engine off and restarted it would be fine for a few more miles.

    Mine did when mine went.

When you say no codes how did you check?

hello lee, i haven't checked codes this time round but a few months ago when the fault wasn't that bad i checked code with one of those cheap obd faults code readers.
Is there a fault code for when coil pack goes?
does my first post sound like how yours went?
I just don't wanna change bits til i cure it. I gotta get it sorted cos i've got to sell it, i don't want to, only had her a year and love it but work is bad at the moment so needs must and all that.

hello, ok i've got no codes and no oil and water on op of the plugs. Would a coil pack throw a code up?
I did get the eml light flashing but has since gone out. Does it depend on the severity of the fault as to whether or not it stores the code? or does the light have to be permanently on?

You would get some kind of fault code relating to multiple misfire on cylinder 1.2.3.4 and so on with a decent code reader. Its pointing that you do need a new one though, can you post what plugs you fit to the car as these can have a big affect on our engines.
