is anyone on here currently insured with AF and they work within the motor industry?
I dont mean traders or garages
Basically my policy renewed this week and AF in their wisdom have decided now after a period of 5yrs that they will not offer driving other cars benefit on my policy because Im linked in some way to the motor industry
The advisor I spoke to yesterday tried to tell me it was cos they thought Id be driving customers cars - not likely as most of the customers are from central/eastern europe so that would be quite unlikely!
I explained all I do is help assemble the god damn things on a production line but got the blanket NO response!
I escalated this via our contact Dan on here and got a rather crap letter/email back today which wasnt very helpful but would appear from their wording that anyone in any shape of form associated with motor vehicles as their profession are bound from this benefit
Just wondering if anyone on here falls into a similar category and if they have this benefit on their AF policy - if so Id be very interested to find out.
their actual wording was :
"Unforunately we do not have an insurance company that will offer you the driving other car benefit, although your occupation means that you are not a motor trader, anyone that is connected to the motor trade in any way at all will not be entitled to this benefit"
Do you think I could challenge this further?
So if I worked in the offices at the same company this rule would also apply?
Maybe I should change my occupation on their records - but without lying how would I be able to word it so its not incorrect???
What other insures offer like for like where mods are concerned?
Ive got 14days to cancel and Im thinking this is probably the best option considering the rather crappy conditions they give.
I appreciate the fact those in garages and similar situations may struggle but FFS theres in excess of 6000 employees at my workplace and only a handful would be driving company cars on the public roads - in fact I cant think of any that would be doing so....
What does everyone think I should do?
I need this benefit tbh as my car is regularly in bits and borrowing cars for commuting etc is often the case.
Yes I know about being named on other policies - but thats not what this is about
More to do with the principle and blanket response given
Any help appreciated guys.
