    MK4 Air Intake Question...

You always hear about people putting the Vectra Intake Pipe into their cars but i was just wondering if anything else could be used to do the job?

Was just looking to be a little different thats all...

thats what it is based on (the dbilas one) but as im an engineer i thought i may aswell make one rather than buy one lol for alot of cash. Mine type has slightly a better curve to it tho. i would say it would give your car abit more. ive got one fitted on my turbo convertible and defo makes a difference. and yes i make a bracket to fix to the car.

I haven't seen anyone else daft enough to try this yet. Gaffa tape engineering FTW:

It would definitely go better with an engine in it

tape! thats boring (altho nice work on the plenum)... my ingrediants

1 stretch of cooker hood extractor fan (4" di)
    1 1.8 intake pipe
    1 pipercross viper
    3 cable ties
    2 sticky foam pads
    1 silicon tubing
1 shoe insole... yup i said shoe insole
0.5 golf tee to block breather hose
    double sided tape
    super glue

verdict is it works way better then the normal restrictor box

sadly the foil stuff broke but was using it as a scoop
the viper is held in with the cable ties
foam padding is stuck on the engine mount so the filter doesnt get damaged
the silicone tube is wedged in between the maf and 1.8 pipe to make it air tight
shoe insole is taped in and glued to the pipe to make it airtight round the throttle body
golf tee was cut in half, taped and glued into the breather hose... then hammered in tightly
voila... a proper intake with no silly boxes.

if anyone found a random bit of foil on the road near dawlish its mine... can i have it back please

Im interested in these air scoops you have, are they made from metal? and do they connect right up to the air box or will i have to fashion abit of tube? And would it be possible to have two fitted? One above the other sort of thing.

    Cheers, Tom.
