Keep My Astra Or Not? :S

Need to make a decision :P

Sold my 1.6 SXI and bought this 2.0 SRI a few weeks ago.

A week after I bought it the gearbox broke, bought a new one and had it fitted, but it seems it's lost power. After it was refitted, the ABS and traction control lights came on, (not sure if it has somethin to do with fuse 23? I dunno)

Someone threw a brick off it last night (barely took paint off it luckily enough, didn't find the twats either), and now, my bumper came off this morning going over a speedbump (very slowly, but it's lowered 40mm on front and 60mm on back), took out a foglight and half the bumper. managed to get it back on but it looks a complete state.

And the engine management light is on because of the airbox not being on or something?

AHHH! My stepdad has offered me his e36 318 Beamer in a straight swap (silver, new shape m3 alloys, clear lights front and back, full leather) (its a 5 door though)

Guys, what should I do? haha!

    That was quick!

Whats the condition of the beamer in comparison to the astra (does it need any outlay itself?), and do you like the beamer more than the astra? Those aren't the most expensive jobs to fix and if you get issues with the beamer it will probably cost more to sort!

Yeah I know. The beamer needs it's wishbones done on the front, but I know a guy who'll do it for £100 (with parts)

The beamer has one scratch on it, some **** keyed it in my area a while ago.

I love Astras, but I think I prefer this beamer to my astra.

If I do get another one, it'll be either an SRI-T, a GSI or more than likely a coupe turbo.

I've had nothing but problems with all my cars tbh, not the luckiest guy.

Clio - Engine blew up, wheel fell off, someone keyed it.

Fiesta - head gasket knackered, then the engine blew after.

Astra (SXI) Someone crashed into it and scratched the side of it and took off, same happened with the rear.

Then now this with my astra sri.

    There is no god. :P

all your problems with the SRi sound like mega easy fixes

the ABS/TC is more than likely just the elec plug on one of the front hubs not connected when they disturbed the driveshafts - or worst case its a new hub - £65 new or whatever a scrappy charges! Fuse 23 is power steering and also ABS/TC so youd lose PS if this was an issue

Airbox not being on??? this shouldnt cause a fault code unless of course the AFM is goosed

Do the paperclip test to see what the actual codes are - ive got a working AFM here for your X20XEV if thats what u need

dont jump in the deep end and swap the cars if u like the Astra - as i say ur list of "problems" dont even sound like problems to me

oh and my bumpers both hang off - so sod that lol

    haha i suppose so like!

I love my astra, but I dunno! its just a piss take to be honest.

I got it put on the computer when I bought it, and he said if I got an airbox for the car, he'd fit it and take off the code causing the engine management light.

so if I get the elec plug reconnected, my ABS and TC will work again?

its just a shit on though, buying the car, and it'll probably need about 300-500 spent on it to make it alright again!

    aaaah! cars man!

i didnt say its defo the plug but at least have a butchers first

does ur power steering work if not then try fuse 23

do the paperclip test ur self and see what the actual fault code is

    details here: http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/sh...69&postcount=4

**lifted directly from another thread so ignore all the bumf at the start**

im guessin u have a cone filter then? still shouldnt bring the code ur garage seem to think it is..... we need the actual code from the above test to tell us what the craic is
