    Coilover question

    Just a quick one.

Bought my astra sri-t on saturday and it came with SPAX RSX (?) coilovers and every bump i hit with the front wheels, i can hear quite a loud knocking.

Is this normal? Ive never had coilovers before so just wanted to check.

check your drop links and wish bones, when cars are lowerd on coilovers, there is unwanted stress on these components and the bushes tend to wear or break down.

its pretty comon if they havent been replaced since fitting sports suspention.

has it done it since you baught it, or has the problem just developed?

best thing to do (i think) pop the front wheels off and get in have a look give everything the tug test if nowt seems broke then may be your bushes thats me all out of ideas.

Cheers guys. Will get my garage to stick it on the ramp for me.

How would you know if the CV joints are on the way out?

You shouldn't need to take it to a garage, or even jack it up. Put the full lock on, put your arm in the wheel arch and grab the drop link and give it a rattle, it should be pretty firm.
