help-engine dogey after air box de-restrict

today after a lot of pushing and shoveing (wich i relly shouldnt have needed to do) i derestricted my airbox on my 1.4 ecotec astra mk4
now when i start it up it takes an extra half second on the startup then the revs shoot straight to 2600 then drop after a second to about 1400 and then sort of of gose up and down slightly and then i turn it of because it sounds unhealthy.
what have a done wrong or should i just put it back? *

I'd check all connections around the airbox, I don't know if the 1.4 has an air flow meter or a temperature sensor, but knocking either of these off would cause major problems.

Check all hoses & such like. On the 1.8 (dunno if there's the same on the 1.4) there's a thin pipe hose thing, sort of the same diameter as a straw. When i accidentally pulled this out without knowing, the revs were bouncing all over the place.

EDIT: Basically what this red arrow is pointing to. Check both ends of it if you have one.
