i woke up bright and early this morning and decided it was time to do battle with the front end of my gsi .
i found a snapped manifold stud (previous owner). and it needs to be drilled and re-tapped so i though ohh well ill take it all off to save me messing about with no space. i also wanted to check if there was anything else broken which is leading to my fault codes issues.
anyway 3 hrs later and a lot of head scratching its all off. im rather proud of myself as im no-mechanic but i have a decent knowledge of hows things work etc.
so i now have the rad and a/c rad and intercooler sat in the kitchen. and also the turbo and the manifold.
i removed the standard dump valve from the side of the turbo and lone behold its been blanked off. this wud explain why it runs like crap when i removed the collins dv.
is this deffinetly the D/V blocker spacer?????
right so the main things i now need to know are :
shud i leave the blanking disk out????
shud i buy a new forge one with the spring?
and can i clean the intercooler with petrol to get the oil out????
sorry if this is a long read but i just want this to be right as its taken so long to get everything off the car. i dnt do half ass jobs
i may have some more questions in the very near future.
