    really annoying problem

right a few months ago i got my car serviced by a 'mate' who , in the process of removing the fuel filter, snapped this pipe

    the engine is the x18xe1

now he said that this was the fuel return pipe and that i would be able to drive the car around as normal, fair doos, BUT the last month or so my car has developed a really high pitched noise coming from the fuel filter area

its fine on short journeys etc but if i do say 30 miles, the high pitched noise will kick in, engine management light comes on then the car starts to try and stall (nearly caused an accident first time it happened!!)

as my 'mate' is a skint low life that would rather shove white happy powder up his nose, im left to foot the bill, but finding the pipe to fix it is prooving reeeeally difficult so my question is, have i done any damage to the fuel pump by running the car without this pipe, if its not the pipe thats the cause (only started about a month ago, he serviced it 3 months ago) what could this problem be? im getting a major circuit malfunction code on the paper clip test but cant afford to take it to a garage

your mate is obviously a knob my friend, how did he manage to break the pipe, changing the fuel filter is basic stuff. he is incorrect, the return feed is there for a purpose and links with the fuel regulator and fuel pump. if it is ok to run without, why on earth did Vauxhall put it there in the first place? you need to go to Vauxhall and get this section of pipe and replace it, mate
