    Need laptop help is possible

The other week my dog chewed through the charger, iv stripped the cable etc and taped it all up reconnected it all works fine. Now i was using it last night and the dog ran into the charger, at the laptop side there was a crackling noise coming from the power/plug on the laptop so i pulled it out.

The whole laptop shut down and now wont turn on, ive re fixed the power lead and tried it in another laptop and it works fine but in mine no lights come on when i plug it in, the battery would of been fully charged at the time but from the point where the laptop charges doesnt seem to be any power getting into the laptop. can anyone help? is there anything internally that could be a problem?

    Cheers
    J

sounds like you may have ripped a connection for the power supply somewhere on your laptop, either that or a short circuit. best thing i can think of doing is to take it to a computer repair shop and get them to take a look, then possibly think about immobilising the dog lol

Sounds like your dog has damaged the power socket on the laptop.
You will need to have it looked at, then once it's fixed replace the dog with a newer version.

If the battery was fully charged anyway it wouldn't make any difference if the charging socket was broke, the laptop would still work on battery power. If the dog caught the lead and caused the wires to touch where you have repaired them, it could have fried something inside the laptop.

Not neccessarily, some DC sockets have a switch built in to them to switch the battery out of circuit.

they are notoriously common for the solder on the dc sockets to break, not too hard to fit a new one
