    Turbo/Car Issues

Well since having the car I am noticing a few things really and I am not sure how bad or indeed if they are even bad things with the car, hopfully Ill list a few and see what people think

    1. When the car idles its constantly drops in revs every 5-10 seconds and sounds like its very close to stalling but never does actually stall, is this normal?

    2. Every now and then I get a sudden wiff of burning oil, and when I brought the car is had a full tank of oil and now 2 weeks later, Its coming up on the MFD to check oil level, yet I am not leaking oil anywhere as Ive checked and there are no drips or marks underneath where I park.

    3. Last but not least how often should the Turbo be changed, the car is on 43k miles now and the previous owner brought the car at 22k miles and it hasnt been changed in that time and I doubt it would have been changed between 0-22k miles, so what is the recommended milage to change one? and this is going to sound like a right nooby question but is there a huge difference between getting a standard replacement turbo and a VXR Turbo ???

    Cheers in Advance

the idle drop is very common try new spark plugs
you are probbs due a turbo tbh sounds like ure burning your oil from old turbo seals
would be well worth checking for blue smoke out your exhaust hope this helps

hehe Yea it helps alot thanks

Well I do tend to get afair bit of smoke in the mornings Ill give it that but I was mostly putting that down to being abit cold lol

Right so some new spark plugs and most probs a new turbo at some point joy joy :P Is there a rough mileage you need to change a turbo then or is it a case of as and when you start getting little probs like above?

    Thanx for info

There is no set milage as to when to change your turbo.
Have you checked the oil level on the dipstick? Try taking off your boost pipe from the IC to the top hat and check to see how much oil is in there.Clean it out and then check it again after a couple hundered miles to see if its lagged inside again.

Have just realised its not smoking due to the cold weather

I seem to get a puff of smoke as soon as I turn the ignition on now and then I dont see anymore till the next time I turn the car over. I take it this isnt a good sign??

    Cheers
