    bertone coupe z20let engine conversion

    hi all

i currently have a 1.8 astra bertone coupe. whats the lowest price im gonna be able to get an engine conversion done for to a z20let. i already know how much ill pay for the whole engine and gearbox etc. just want to know a rough cost for the actual work that itll need to change it over. and is there anyone on this forum who does it or interested in doing it.

    cheers

im probably gonna get a bollacking of a few members on here for saying this. but im still to young and have a few to many points on my license to get a good insurance quote on 1 it would cost me the price of a coupe turbo just to get insured on one.im already paying £1000 on a 1.8. ive had quite a few insurance claims where theyve been out to view the car and theyve never checked under the engine bay so i should be alright. but i do realise my inurance would be technically invalid. otherwise i would of gone down that route

    cheers

alright then what about a change to one of the 2.2 engines. i could declare that and afford the insurance on 1 of these. is the difference beetween the 1.8 and the 2.2 worth having for the price. how much would it cost for a swap to a 2.2 just for labour.

and i got my coupe pretty cheap for the year anyway. and ive got it how i like it now so i wouldnt want to change cars

youve got several points and your young

you like the idea of driving uninsured cos thats what you're doing if u follow this pipe dream of yours

the best thing you can do is grow up - stop being a fool - earn some NCB legally then consider getting a turbo model or higher powered motor

If you're determined to go the conversion route now then I would strongly suggest you do so legally - its simply not worth it

loving the "ive had quite a few insurance claims where theyve been out to view the car and theyve never checked under the engine bay so i should be alright"

not exactly how it works but who are we to judge eh!

We have several members on the forum who will undertake such conversions

GMAN does these in his spare time it would seem
c9rum is another member but this is his profession - going under the name of Griffin Autos - based in Bedfordshire - this is the guy who did my conversion
Quite a few others on the forum would carry it out - personally knowing what I know now, Id probs DIY it
