Sold a phone for the g/f on her account.
Winning bidder looked a bit dodgy (10 feedback with 3 of them making iffy comments). They paid the next day. Sent phone special delivery.
after phone was sent, i look at the feedback they've left others (only 4), of these 4, only 1 was positive with 3 negs. I get cautious.
Phone arrives yesterday morn, g/f gets an email (to her hotmail) last night asking where the memory card is & telling her to send it out. Saying the CD doesn't work & that he's on Vodafone & now needs to get it unlocked to see if the phone works.
1. no memory card was ever mentioned. Don't assume one will be bundled. You don't buy a TV stand & then kick off when it doesn't come with a 2grand TV!!
2. the CD works, end of.
3. The auction was plastered with "locked to o2 network" all over it. As well as "i will not be held responsible for people buying this for another network". Learn to read dipshit!!!
The guy is based in Scotland & going off his typing "skills" & forename/surname, i get the impression he's not British.
G/f gets all this shit on her phone (uses to get online) & texts me. I manage to get a PC at work & quick message the buyer (via eBay) not to touch the phone, including unlocking & i'll be in touch when i finish work
I get contact after dinner which i don't get until i finish work, obviously, saying they want a reply by 4:00pm as they're going to unlock the phone to test it.
If it's unlocked - what if it breaks?
if it's unlocked - it's not the same as the phone i sold
they've probably taken off the protective cover, which was kept to show how it was barely even used.
if it's unlocked - the warranty is void. Meaning returning it is worthless to me.
Explained the 1-2-3 to this guy & as yet no reply.
I'm very very careful with my listings. I examine every item VERY closely for this very reason. It was sent EXACTLY as it was listed.
What do i do?
the guy's not put a claim in yet. I've tried searching for eBay contact, but their help isn't layed out too helpfully. It's laid out in a way which is designed to make you give up. :|
It's not small change either, so it's not something she wants to just write off to save hassle.
