    which alarm. factory or cobra

following on from my earlier thread "canbus compatable" i have just spoken to a guy that's fitted cobra alarms to my last four cars, x reg astra estate being the last one. he can fit me a cobra that's compatable to the astra but was not sure if it's for the estate or not. if it's o-k would the cobra be a better option than the vauxhall alarm or not.

    regards
    axelrod.

sorry my first thread was in the wrong section

cobra alarms are very good, there is a vast range of them and they can be linked to your existing key so you dont need a fob, it doesnt mater wether the car is an estate or not!!!
they should however be fitted by an auto electrician as its not a diy job have a look at the cobra page for more info

Any aftermarket alarm, if fitted correctly, will be better than the standard fit alarm from the factory.
Reason being, it can be installed in any of a number of different places, depending on how good the installer is. Factory alarms are always fitted in the same way. Once a theif finds a way round a factory alarm there basically useless. With the aftermarket one, he has to out think the installer as well as the alarm.

If your car has the factory alarm though a cobra one will interfere with it and cause false alarms
