    Smoothing gauges into dash.

    What the best stuff to use for smoothing in gauges????

    Its looks like this at moment.

    Where are the Cumbrian Members??

    Are you wanting to smooth the plate into the console or loose the 'jam jar lid' effect of the gauge bezels?

    The only way to loose the jam jars lids it to sink them into the plate, so they sit lower.

    I did this...



    ...using 3 layers of PVC sheet - the top 2 having holes the dia of the bezel and the lower one the dia of the case. It's exactly the same as the ones Glasgow Stu was selling, since it was I that gave him the measurements


    As for smoothing it into t he console.. it'll need lifting slightly to sit level with the surface: some thing plastic strip on the underside will do the job, then glue it all together from the back. Finally some good old filler and sanding...followed by a respray'

    The plate i have there geoff is off glasgow_stu, but the bezels are about 58mm and the backs are about 52-53mm. I have tried cutting the hole bigger but this is as far as i can go. Not very good with diy and making things lol.
