    FAO satnav centre console people

Im thinking about getting my self one for the astra and wondered where you put the MFD screen thing? Is there somewhere else to stick it or does some harcore engineering need cracked out to find a new spot for it?

Also, its getting a tomtom one put in - how do I get it so it comes on and off with the ignition or do I need to open it and extend the wire to put a switch somewhere?
It would definitely go better with an engine in it

yeah, I sell satnavs for a living so know the garmins do that but I dont like them as much as tomtoms. Plus I got a spanking new one europe for 30 quid lol - for that price Im not too bothered about chopping it up and if it does go wrong I can easy enough swap it over

    Ah... steve my friend.

It so happens I have a brand new sat nav console, with your name on it, for £12.

I would try google for the ignition idea, I think I have seen a 'how to' on modding the tomtom somewhere there.

I had toyed with fitting the MFD into one of those wraps for the CD holder that fit into a DIN slot. They did seem to be about the same size. I have also seen Kev has his scangauge in his ashtray, took some bodging, but they are about the same size.

I am guessing the MFD will be the tubby style with all the bells and whistles, else there is not much point IMO.... or just fit a scangauge instead.

I do indeed which could be a problem. I feel a stanley knife might be taken to my headlining and see if something can be done. Theres already a circle hole there where some douche who had the car before me fitted a proper clock so Ive got nothing to lose

Well, technically Im a student doing neuroscience but part time I sell them . Garmins start from 89.99 quid, tomtoms from ~120 ish. There are other makes but I wouldnt bother wasting time with them tbh. We sometimes find old units in cages out the back and they go for less than the above prices as and when we discover them
