Recommend me a bluetooth & ipod head unit please

I'm getting very annoyed with my Alpine CDE-103BT unit.

Great little unit, however i've mentioned the problems i've had with the steering wheel controls to the point i've no just said f**k it!! The last time the controls only lasted 24hours!!

Tried to make and take calls today & that didn't work either.

So basically i'm wanting a decent unit (preferably not bought online so i can take it back no problem if there's bother) that offers bluetooth & iPod options.

I would like to be able to control the iPOd via the head unit as well.

Oh and retain steering wheel controls too.

    Any in mind?

ahh no good for me then buddy. Requirements are:

    * retain S.W. Controls
    * bluetooth capability (not fussed if mic is in built or external)
    * iPod connectivity MUST MUST MUST be at the rear. Don't want wires on show
*iPod MUST be able to be controlled via the H.U. (not the iPod - as that'd be fiddly....and dangerous)

All of these are musts i'm afraid

Have heard about this parrot thing, but don't know anything about it. Either way, if it's in built, surely i don't need it externally, whatever it is.

I'm thinking the HU is possibly duff. Either way, SOMETHING is duff as it should be working A-ok

Is this parrot stuff like some sort of software?

The g/f has a Sony MEX-BT2500. Don't know if it has this parrot stuff, but the hands free side of it is faultless. In built mic, very clear reception. Fantastic budget unit.

Saw the Sony MEX-BT3700U in Halfords today for £180. Had me curious.

So long as it meets the requirements of the above then it's good.

Problem is though, WHY the steering controls kept going on mine. I know it can't be answered here, but is it the unit or is it the car wiring? I dunno. They worked fine on the original CDR500 unit. I'm thinking faulty unit PERHAPS, but i think i'm past any date to send it back, which is why i'm considering other units

Parrot make phone kits, they even do one now which links up to your ipod which you then control with a seperate remote to stream your music http://www.parrotshopping.com/uk/p_p...ed.aspx?f=1712 or http://www.parrotshopping.com/uk/p_p...ed.aspx?f=1713 The sound quality of these needs playing about with alot to get it to sound right as the unit has it's own internal amp. I also guess Parrot sell their software to the likes of Kenwood to use inside their headunits

I believe the sony unit you mention only has front usb for your ipod so no good for what you want

Yeah i was just about to edit my post to say that about the front usb, so that's that one ruled out.

Youtube can be a bit of a help, but quite often, video reviews just show people playing their music in the dark. Not very helpful lol.

I've got the slightly newer bu basically the same Alpine CDE 104BTi and I couldn't speak highly enough of it!! Charges and plays songs from my iPhone, steering controls work fine everytime and the Bluetooth I spot on.
I'd go back and check your wiring. Which steering control adapter are you using?
