Alarm going off when unlocked and running??

As the title says I have spent all day cursing somebodys car alarm going off all day, only to find out that its coming from my car. this is very odd as i tried it earlier in the day, unlocked it and it carried on so i assumed it was not mine. Then once i realised it was mine i again unlocked it, started the car and it carried on. Has anyone had this problem before?

I should also mention that the alarm sounds different to the normal alarm when i had a problem with my power sounder, its not the horn and the indicators are not flashing

Sounds like a powersounder issue myself. The only time mine sounded like that was when the battery was very flat on the car and struggled to start
