Strut top mount/bearing - what does it look like.

I have ordered a set of KW coilovers for my car, and I know that you have to recover and re-use the OE bearing/ mount from the suspension strut top mounts.

Having never carried out this task, what does this bearing look like? I'm asking because my Haynes manual doesnt make it clear. Is it attached to the strut top (if so is it simpe to remove) or the body of the car?

    Any help appreciated

when you pop the bonnet, on each strut top there is a black metal cup thing, you'll need that and once you have the strut removed its easy peasey. sorry i cant be more helpful, pictures would make this soo much easier to explain lol

Its not the part you asked about though!

the part u mentioned is on the shock absorber itself

the part graham mentioned is only a "stop"

the part you need is highlighted in the diagram below - the actual bearing part needs to be prised away from the rest of the mount though

a flatblade screwdriver will easily prise this free though

here's a pic of the bearing whilst attached to the mount - the bearing splits free at its widest part as shown in the pic

Ah, I see now the bit you mean. I'll print this out for when I'm fitting them

Thanks very much for your help, and the handy diagrams. Much appreciated
