    Key fob

My key fob packed up yesterday.
It had a new battery 2weeks ago and has now just stopped.
Any one know what has happend or has happened to any one else what did you do ?
I hate having to use my key to lock the car LOL

Take it you have a mk4 key?

Secret is to fold a piece of paper about the size of the battery about 4 or 5 times to press the battery and hold it down onto the chipboard, then when you put the two lids together it holds it tight, something I do every time I know anyone with a mk4 with a dodgy fob and 90% of the time it solves it

That, or resolder the dodgy joints at the battery holder.
They tend to woork loose from the solder over time.
You will need a soldering iron with a fairly fine tip to get in at them all though.

    Amen to that.

This worked when I had a similar problem. Also very simple to do.

Did you re-sync the key to the car once you'd put the paper in...? Also do you get a light on the key or does it seem dead?

Did the re-sync sort it out? Did you have to re-solder as well?

    A related question...

Checking the operation of the central locking is straightforward as you can see the locks being engaged etc.
But, how do you check that your immobiliser is working?
