    Changing ISP

Have been with America On Line (AOL) for 12 years.
Huge price increase, so thinking of moving to Plus Net.
Anyone using Plus Net? are they reliable for connections etc.?

No experience with plusnet but if you can get O2 in your area then get that, the BEST isp without any doubt at all.

Always liked them but we saved £20 a month by switching to Sky for BBand, TV and phone line/calls - surprisingly they've been more reliable than PlusNet too

PlusNet were my 1st broadband ISP about 2004ish. They were winning awards & getting overall good reviews (which seems difficult in the world of ISPs), so i chose them. Cracking.

Then they turned shit. They became slower than 56k (no exaggeration) & weekends, especially Sunday's were a joke. Pages wouldn't load at all.

I then moved to Zen a few years ago, who i've only just moved from. Zen in the years i was with them were absolutley brilliant. Never dropped once. The ONLY reason i moved was that i could get it cheaper elsewhere. So from £24.99/month i moved to......

....o2. I can't get their £7/month package, but i qualify for their £17/month deal. I also signed up in time to get the 1st 3months for free. They were getting overall good reviews & have been fine in the past few weeks that i've been with them. So far they'd get recommended that's for sure.

    PlusNet wouldn't.

what are you looking to spend no more than per month? (& don't say as little as possible lol).

If you've an o2 mobile, i'd seriously suggest trying them to see if you're in their cheap deals area. £7 a month for their service shouldn't be sniffed at,

Search the reviews & find any recurring issues with various ISPs.

I've already done that mind & there wasn't much to choose from tbh.

o2 / be* there are the same company and put their own kit into the exchanges, the benefits of this are reduced contention and generally much higher broadband speeds.

I'm running with Be* and I'm getting about 14meg. They have a "24 Meg Club" for those sat on the exchange that are getting 24 meg (obviously!)

I'd seriously recommend them, especially if speeds a big thing for you. Their hardware (modems) are a bit pants so i'd recommend replacing it with an aftermarket one, but i'd recommend that for any ISP really.

If you can get it for the cheap prices then you're laughing!

I'm with Be and would recommend them whole heartedly.

They're also only 3-4 hops direct to LINX.
