    Replacing Battery

    Hi all,

Battery in the Astra died. I took it out and charged it, however when I reconnect it both the alarm and the power sounder go off. I cannot seem to stop them - even when I turn the engine on they still sound.

Have tried searching, but can't find how to fix it. Does anyone know how to reconnect the battery, without alarms going off?! (MK 4 2.2 SRi Hatch, if it matters!)

    Thanks,

    Chris

Keys in the ignition, click to 1st or 2nd position (one or the other, can't remember which) and then plop the battery leads back on.

No joy I'm afraid, tried keys on position 1 and 2, reconnecting battery still sets off the alarm

    Any other ideas?

Was the battery so flat that the car possibly still thinks it's locked?

I say connect the battery, stand back and let it sounds. Lock, deadlock then unlock with the remote then open the door and start it

Battery was completely discharged - didn't even get dash lights.

Tried that, the normal alarm doesn't go off now, thanks Autosparks.

Powersounder still does though, any other ideas for that?

Run the car up for 5 minutes then repeat the lock/ deadlock/ unlock and ignition again, the powersounder may be so flat that it's still complaining

I'd also say sorry to your neighbours lol
