Hoping someone can help, please go easy on a newbie!
I've bought a Kenwood KDC-W7544U to replace the CD30 in my Astra H, and after looking on this and several other forums also purchased these adaptors:
1. Connects2 Vauxhall CAN-Bus adaptor CAN-VAUX01 from Car Audio & Security
2. Connects2 Kenwood Patch Lead
3. Autoleads PC2-85-4 harness adaptor
4. Connects2 CAN-01 CAN-Bus adaptor interface
As I'm new to all this I thought I'd have a go at getting the stereo to work before even attempting to connect the adaptor for the steering wheel controls etc. however to my surprise all the leads seemed to connect together nicely. The bad news is that when I connect the leads to the Astra the stereo seems to power on (it will insert and eject a CD) nothing appears on the stereo display.
I've looked at the guide in the sticky on how to fit an aftermarket HU, which mentions the black and grey/yellow wires need to be hooked up to the hazards (also seen something similar saying you can use a lead taped to the cig lighter somewhere?) however there are no leads of these colours left to connect. As the Autoleads adaptor was advertised as "no wiring required" I wasn't sure if I need to connect anything else?
I have the following wires which are not connected to anything:
-red & orange wires from Autoleads adaptor
-red, orange, grey and green wires from CAN-Bus adaptor
-brown wire from Autoleads adaptor
I attempted to connect the red & orange from the Autoleads adaptor to those on the CAN-Bus adaptor, which is when the stereo powered on without display. Otherwise, nothing. Not attempted to do anything with the others. Good news is I refitted the CD30 which still works!
Apologies for the long post, I'm sure by now you're all rolling on the floor laughing at my incompetence here. Couldn't see any similar posts on the forum so would appreciate any advice.
