I seem to have the common oil in the coolant header tank, I clean it out and it slowly comes back. I've had the engine compression tested and it doesn't appear to be the head so I'm guessing its the common oil cooler failure. Several posts on the forum have mentioned bypassing the cooler, but I can't find any posts from anyone thats done it.
I'm a little confused about doing it, I've done some searching on the net and some people say the oil cooler is underneath the oil filter at the back of the engine, and some people say its the small radiator at the front of the engine. I've checked the oil filter and there appear to only be one rubber tube coming from it...
Has anyone done it?
Anyone recommend doing it / not doing it?
What exactly do I need to do?
Will bypassing allow for enough cooling?
If I bypass the coolant from the oil cooler, could I not simply replace the oil cooler with a generic air cooled oil cooler?
