    Can someone identify this part?

    Hi can anyone tell me what the little plastic grommit is in this hole, noticed a few spots of oil on the drive and after getting under found only half of what should have been in this hole, seems to have perished. Sorry but borrowed this pic from someone else sufferring an oil leak mine doesn't look as bad as this.

    they're rubber/plastic cover/plugs for the sump bolts where meets the trasmition box;
    -if you get oil in there is coming from crankshaft oil seal ,behind the fly wheel see pic

    Thanks for the response.

    Not 100% sure it is coming from there as just had the car serviced so my 1st guess is sump plug seal (The nut to the right?) I take it just being a plastic cover its not important.

    Cheers

    Well good news not the crankshaft oil seal but the cranksensor seal. Free instead of a few hundred quid.
