    my mk4... V6 or 2.0turbo???

mk4 astra... and want more power (i.e engine conversion)

my question is, what is my best option in terms of cost, performance, and difficulties with fitment?

in my mind at the moment its a toss up between Z20LET, C20LET, X25XE

i also have a vectra v6 which is currently off the road and i need to get rid of, so i affectively have an x25xe sitting there doing nothing atm

    opinions and advice please?

sorry if this is in the wrong section btw

What engine is in there as it stands? Easiest would be the LET, C20LET being cheaper but it's an older engine. I'm told the V6 is a lot more difficult to do plus the astra being a smaller car it doesn't leave much room in the engine bay to play with so servicing is a pain.

If you're not bothered about being different then go for the ZLET.

    at the moment its a 1.6 8v (z series i think)

is the Z20LET a reasonably simple conversion to do?

Got to be the Z20let as the wiring and fitment will be the easiest.

im coming around to the idea of V6, would be daft to spend a couple of grand that i dont have on a LET, when i have the V6 sitting there...

i think im right in thinking that i need the f23 gearbox, and c20xe clutch and flywheel? (poss with spacer plates as the gearbox and block dont quite line up apparently)

can i use the astra ecu (current engine is z-series 1.6 8v)? and just match what wiring i need from the V6 loom?
and can i use the vectra driveshafts?

as far as i understand i may have an issue with engine mounts - most that i have read about seem to use custom mounts?

If you are thinking z-let, for the money, you'd be better just buying an Sri-t or Coupe Turbo. Gsi MK4s are a bit dearer.

The V6 idea is workable, but you would need to be pretty proficient on the electrical side of things, as you will need to run 2 ECU's. One for the engine and one for the rest of the car. You will also need to make your own engine mounts. I looked into this for my own MK4

Once its in, theres also the issue of there being sweet FA room around the engine to work on. You will either need to take a lot of stuff off to change over ancillaries like alternators, or invest in an engine crane. Its tight enough in the Vectra engine bay, even with a 2 litre in!

If that doesnt bother you, then go for it. It would be an awesome conversion
