    weird laptop problem

i opened up my laptop yesterday to change the RAM, since it cannot be accessed from underneath and it is underneath the motherboard.
i changed it and put it back together and all was well. turned on the laptop without the charger and it was fine.
then i plugged th charger in and let it charge for a while, and as soon as i unplugged it, the laptop just turned off. so i turned it back on with the charger in, and it says the battery is charging, but it itsnt.. its been on 13% for about 5hours now.
so the only way i can use it now is on direct power BUT once in 5tries, itl start up without the charger in... but i cant use it cos the battery is almost dead and it dont charge, and if i take the charger out once av put it in... itl jus turn off again....
sorry for the confusion, but what can it be?
i really need it sorted before i go back to uni
its a hp tc1000 tablet btw

EDIT: i have alredi opened it and checked for loose connections.. evrything seems fine..

All I can assume is that something hasn't been put back together correctly...I'd strip it again and check all the connections.

if nothing is out of place then maybe you have fried the charging circuit guessign you didnt have a anti static strap on etc, unusual but its a possibility

What I've assuming is, you forgot to remove the battery before you opened the laptop?

Did it all work fine before? It sounds like a faulty battery if you are positive everything was put together as it was and you haven't damaged anything, although it is impossible to tell 100% without actually seeing it. Have you tried taking the battery out and putting it back in again?

Did you wear an Antistatic strap? Could have shorted the System board out? And causing the battery not to charge? As said its hard to tell without seeing it.

i opened to check if there is any voltage coming out of the battery. turns out there is at 1st, full 17 volts, but when i put the charger in and then take it back out, it drops down to 0, and then after like 2minutes, its full again....
also the battery charger light stays on, but the battery doesnt charge...
could it be the battery? is it worth spending around £40 to find out?
i got an electrition to check out the motherboard and he said everything looks fine...

Try putting the old RAM back in and see if this cures the problem, if not, you've probably shorted something or other.
