I like the network connectivity of the second one Lee, we have our music and some films stored on a NAS and I'm looking for something to play these back through my surround sound amp/speakers - the Asus one might just fit the bill, it has composite out too - rubbish really, but we don't have a HDMI compatible TV just yet.

Some negative comments around for the Emtec product, but I like the combination of NAS and media player, I prefer minimal solutions and the Emtec one means I could ditch my other NAS...

    Anything similar around?

    This is neat too:

    http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/18/w...-media-player/

Said to be quicker for some things than the larger version as it uses a different chipset...

There's also a WDTV2 out sometime soonish which has network connectivity to stream files off an existing NAS etc.

Considering Weston Digital makes some of the best hard drives around I would expect there other stuff to be good.
