    gearbox or clutch problem

    hi all any ideas i have a 52 astra 2.0dti van, i have noticed alot of vibration through the van. all the mounts are good. i have noticed it seem to shudder alot when pulling away.when the van is idleing in neutral the is a terrible rattle from the box , but when you dip the clutch it goes.one garage recons the clutch one the flywheel one the box.

    hi mate, i recon its probably the springs on the clutch pate that are knackered...
    do u know when that clutch was done?

    i wouldnt have thought it was the flywheel?

    out of interest how may miles has ur van done? and have u had it from new?
    cos if its done over 100k then id do the clutch if it was me cos if u do the job urself
    then it wouldnt cost to much

    well the van has done over 270.000 miles i have had is since 170.00 dont think its had a clutch in it

    sod doing the clutch id buy another i think uve worn this one out!!!!

    i think thats a record!! ive never herd of an astra van with that sort of milage transits yes but never an astra... and to think shes only 7yrs old...

    out of interest do u know if thats the same engine from new?

    anyway back to the problem in hand, id say the clutch is shagged mate!!! try getting a new one that should sort it...

    yes its the same engine mate,the vans had only one owner apart from me and i service it every month. i have put alot of those miles on it. im a courier and clock 2000 miles a week sometimes more, and shes never let me down the van that is. i still get 500 miles a full tank on the motorway . im keeping the van for a nother year or two then i think il have a new sportive i think

    good choice, well if ur up for it and able id say do the clutch and she should be fine for another year or so!!!

    best of luck with the uss enter-astra van-prise!!! to infinity and behond!!! no wait that buzz light year!!! well u get mt point!!
