Astra lovers, don't hate me - Mazda RX8?

    Hey all,

I'm looking to get a new car to replace my 1.6 16x SXi. I really want a VXR but prices seem to be going up atm, not down

RX8s, even with low mileage, can be bought for next to nout.

    For example, this gem:
    http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classif...7693&logcode=p

What do you lot think of them?

Also, I see a lot of them are 1.3L, yet sport 232 BHP? How is that even remotely possible?

Any ideas what one would cost to insure/run? I currently pay £430 with DL for my SXi. DL aren't giving me a quote for some reason, otherwise I'd know already haha

    Cheers!

because of the way the rotary engine works, theoritically it is only 1.3 litres but it is actually a 2.6! im sure someone will further this explanation!

chances are its gonna cost you a fortune to insure mate

i have heard that they like to drink the petrol and oil and that they should be rebuilt approximately every 70k miles

they are lovely looking cars though

You also have to drive it like an angry chav to get the power out of it.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot.

Yup, DL aren't giving me one, and the cheapest on comparethemeerkat (oops, market) is Bell @ £1077 lol - more than double my current insurance.

Drink petrol - we talking <30mpg?

Something else I've read a lot. So the VXR is basically a whole new level above an RX8?

They are significantly more efficient than a 'normal' cylinder engine and rev MUCH higher as they're just a big rotor going round and round.

They use oil pretty quickly, unsure on service costs and unsure how long the rotor tips last either.

Nice cars though as other say, they drink fuel
