    Angry Drink Driver ....

This morning about 1.30am, the wife and me were sat watching TV when we both heard a loud bang. Type of bang which you know straight away was a car crash.

We jumped up and looked out the front door and there was a brand new focus with its front end caved in, air bags gone off and leaking fluids. I put my trainers on and a hoody to go and see if the guy was ok and when i opened the front door he drove off!! About 200yds down the road he drove into a passing car then got out threatened them and ran off!!

I could see the another stationary car he'd crashed into down the road so it was obvious he was "bungalowed"!!

He was arrested at home about 25mins later when the police arrived and let out at 1 o clock this afternoon without being charged for drink driving!!!!

Here is the crazy bit, he refused to give a breath sample at home and at the police station. They called a doc in to do a blood test but he refused that too! The charged him with leaving the scene of a accident and thats it!
Everything I do has total support of my wife ...... which is nice!

It's as much of an offense if not more of an offense not to give a sample than it is to give a positive sample. I've been breathalised twice before (travelling late at night after work and being pretty much the only car on the road) and I remember being given a leaflet and some babble from the officers about if I didn't give a sample then it effectively suggests I'm guilty straight away.

He'll be getting charged for more than just leaving the scene of an accident. How do you know he got off with only leaving the scene?

Edit: just found this, sounds about right as far as what I was told:

Failing to provide a roadside breath test (Code DR70)
Penalty - Fine - up to Level 3 (£1,000)4 penalty points on your licence
Disqualification is at the discretion of the Court

After Driving/Attempting to drive refusing to provide samples for analysis (DR30)
    Penalty - Fine - up to Level 5 (£5,000) and/or 6 months imprisonment
Mandatory disqualification for at least 12 months for first offence (18 months tends to be the norm as you are considered to have been trying to avoid being found guilty)
Mandatory disqualification for at least 3 years for second offence within 10 years

After being in charge refusing to provide samples for analysis (DR60)
    Penalty - Fine - Level 4 (£2,500) and/or 3 months imprisonment
10 penalty points on your licence
Disqualification is at the discretion of the Court

Just spoken to my neighbour who witnessed it and he has been at the police station all day. The guy driving has been banned for 3 months for refusing to provide samples for analysis and for leaving the scene. 6 points on his licence!

    Still a tosser though!

Surely he will be in court. There's too many serious offences there for it to be dealt just in a police station. Even more so as it involved other people and their property.
