7" flip out screen top or bottom mount

    Hi All

Having got my new phone (Nokia 5800) with video out I decided to get a 7" motorised screen of fleebay (£53 in the end) with the aim of playing music/nav-audio from the phone straight into my single din head units AUX input and the video straight into the flip out for navigation\ BBCi player etc.

I know most people seem to mount the screen in the top bay blocking the air vents but Iím wondering whether it would be better to mount the screen in the bottom bay and leave the head unit where it is beneath the vents (Saving the effort of moving the original unit down). The flip out will not be used every day and although I have steering wheel control I do tend to fiddle with the head unit and am used to where it currently lives.

What do you guys reckon should I mount -

    7" flip out
    Head unit

    Or

    Head unit
    7" Flip out

    Cheers

to me it sounds like y ou already have the answer in your head m8

but my view is screen on top simply cause u would ( as a passenger ) want to see it higher up not looking down.. prettyt pointless for the driver tho as its illegal to have th escreen running for anything other than teh radio anyway is it not?

im sure there is a "rule" that ur ment to have a stnav in a certain eye view?

I had my flip out unit in the top din, and moved it to the bottom to reduce the glare you get. Its not too difficult to move if you do end up changing your mind.

Is it practical in the bottom din Chivieri or is it blocked by the steering wheel or at too much of an angle to be useful while driving?

Its ok there not blocekd by the wheel but it is at quite an angle,id say if u were going to be using it for sat nav and will be looking at it often the top would be better.

It does block quite a bit of the air flow from the vents there, also i havent got tinted windows so i guess that they would help with the glare!

    Nice one, appreciate that!

Don't really need to see what it looks like at the top as most pics i've already seen are mounted up there!

Looks good man, thank you for doing that.

It's good to get an idea of how it will look.

    Cheers
