Top Hat ... Whats this bit for?

Just looking at the top hat piccy here...

What is the metal bar above the 4 bolts for? I suppose it might make sense if I had my car, but I don't at the moment.

Does it connect the cross over to the top hat? the original top hat was a longer design and didn't require it?

    That's my guess.

That makes sense, there is a 5th nut, which I presume is for the crossover then. But I thought the crossover was bolted onto something else. I can't remember. lol.

Not a problem in that case, I removed the crossover a while back.

Yea there's a little connection at the back, underneath the crossover and this normally sits on top of the OE top hat, I'm just assuming with the new one being a different design, the steel "brace" is there to join the gap to stop the crossover (for those who have one) from swaying side to side.

    ...

Just got the car back. Popped the bonnet and feel a bit silly. It is for the top hat. Stupid question, but I didn't have the car to hand.

Just letting the engine cool down before fitting the shiny shiny stuff.... did you fit that blue silicone boost pipe Scott? ... looks like it has been on for years, perhaps since you owned it. lol.

I'm confused but I'll put that down to the fact I should've left work by now.

I don't have that top hat on my car and I have a stainless steel boost pipe from the FMIC to the OE top hat.

I'm now on the same page.

That was the first boost pipe, it was replaced with a stainless steel one (with DV take off) which was then replaced with a stainless steel one without DV take off.

When I changed from ACT to T8, I put the first stainless steel one on the T8 and the silicon one (Courtenay Sport IIRC?) on the old ACT and threw the crappy rubber one in the bin.
