    Tyre widths???

Is there any way of knowing what the widest tyre you can fit on your alloys is? At the moment i have 215 18 40 but im looking for wider ones, like 255 18 35.

Is there anyway i can tell? or do they have to be looked at?

    cheers, Tom.

You need a rim width of between 8.5" and 10" for a 255 tyre.

with rolled arches you may get away with 235's, depends on the offset and size of wheel. If 225/40s are ok, 235/35's should be, as only 10mm wider but the diameter of wheel/tyre will be 15mm less.
