    bmw compact problems...

    hi guys, after being a member on here for a couple of years i have now decided to buy a bmw compact 316 02 reg, but i've had a problem with it the last week, my battery light came on, on the way home, but the car still drove fine, i have now at the battery and the alternator check and they are ok, not losing any charge. just woundred if anyone could shed some light on this for me?? thank you

    the alternator could be on the way out

    thanks danny, not yet but i got told over the weekend that the alternator on it is a reconditioned one. do u think this could be part of the problem?

    a reconditioned is fine as long as its working
    as car companys
    vauxhall fords ect all recon them when they take them off cars

    check there isnt a sensor wire that has been snapped leading up to it, had to have a look at a megan yest which had been in for a service a few days before since then the electrical system warnign was showing when i looked the sensor wire had been snapped probably when taking oil filter off.

    try askign on www.bimmerforums.co.uk they are a good bunch for technical help on bmws few ex aoc members on there to
