As above, wanted to have a go at restoring the paint on the motor, is full of swirls and scratches, and although from what I have read so far it would seem that a DA would be safer, I took the plunge and bought myself a rotary. Its a silverline polisher, it wasn't at all expensive but I'm sure it will do the job. I have also bought some 3m perfect it foam pads, one green one blue, and sonus polishes sfx1 and sfx2. So I think I have everything I need to get started.
I have read numerous guides and watched a few videos, and I think I get the gist of what machine polishing involves. I think I'll start with the gentlest polish and pad, see what damage is corrected, and take it from there. Obviously the car needs to be cleaned and clayed first - no problem.
What I would like is for other people to share their experiences of the first time they used a rotary and what mistakes (if any) they made. Also tips from people who have done the procedure quite a lot would be great. You know, definite no-nos and things that MUST be done and watched out for. I feel confident I could go and have a bash at it now but I will feel a lot safer when I have as much knowledge as I can muster! Cheers chaps
