    1.9 cdti problem

Hi - I've got a 150bhp twintop 57 plate that wont start. It fires up, sounds like it is missfiring then stops after 2/3 seconds. It is at the dealers who cannot find any fault code in it's brains so they now suspect fuel contamination [unlikely]. It also broke down in April this year and had a new switch under the clutch pedal [common fault apparently], something to do with the keyless start system but that time it wouldn't even fire up.
Anyone got any ideas or had a similar fault?
    Thanks

If I was you I'd be tempted to take it to an independant diesel specialist. A problem like that should not be too tricky for them to diagnose.

    Hello and welcome to AOC

Please dont take this the wrong way, but I take it the dealers have checked that there is enough fuel in the tank?

I dont know much about diesels, but as it is actually firing up, it may be a problem with the diesel pump itself. Either way it sounds like its not getting sufficient pressure (loads is needed for a diesel) to inject enough fuel into the engine.

Maybe theres also a blockage somewhere?

Thanks so far. The dealer has done the standard tests with everything AOK and its got half a tank full [ran for a week after filling up so unlikely to be contaminated fuel]. Particulate filter at 60% so that shouldn't be it. Will chase the dealer up.
