advice on removing the inlet manifold y20dth

hi all im thinking about taking my inlet manifold off to clean the swirls on my 52 plate y20 dth ,is the an easy way to do it.i gather you have to remove the injector pipies to do it.it looks a pain to disconect them from the pump end due to the cramped space any advice cheers

I wouldn't say it was easy but it's not as bad as it looks. I haven't got particularly small hands, possibly because I'm 6'1" and 15 stone. I'm also left-handed which doesn't help as it's a right-handed job but I've done it twice now.

Having got the pipes off the first time I did warn a smaller mate that I might need his help putting it back together but I did it myself. Just make sure the unions aren't cross-threaded before you put a spanner on them.

Advance warning, I had to bleed all four at the injectors before it would start.

Can I ask how you bleed the injectors to get it to start..
I had my manifold and swirl flaps off the car today and now everything is back but cant get it to start..

Well actually I managed to get it to start but it is barely ticking over cant even get it to 500rpm. So I gather there is still air in the system somewhere, how do I get rid of it??

Strange, mine didn't even think about it. I would have thought if it started at all it would have cleared.

Anyway, if it's not too late - all I did was put it all back together then when it wouldn't go, slacken off the unions to the injectors about half a turn. I turned it over on the starter briefly then nipped them up. I tried just two to start with but it didn't help so I did the other two as well.

Messy, and it started while I was bleeding the last two, but it worked.

Cool.. Well I managed to get it started now.. But it is in limp mode now with the EML light on.. What do you think the prob is?? obviously it's got to do with something around the area I worked on but everything was put back 100% and looks fine???????

I'm in no position to give advice about EML lights, I've been trying to fix mine on and off for a year...
