Unless you have blown the fuse there will be a permanent live. It's a ignition live that will be missing that you can pick up from a spare wire at the accessory socket in the centre

The red wire is switched (ignition) and the yellow is permanent meaning it will only come on with the ignition

Ok so is there a way to have a permanent live feed to my stereo so its on all the time?? Someone has mentioned a wire near the fag lighter maybe being a perm live?? It is a dvd player so i dont really want to sit there with the ignition on for over a hour to watch a film?!

...but do you want to run your battery down ???

If you stick the orig stereo back in, and change 'ignition logic' on the settings, you'll be abel to put it on whenever

Have tried that too, wondered if the settings would still affect the new stereo but to no avail!!! Would the fact its a dvd player mean it needs the handbrake on, a wire connecting??? "...but do you want to run your battery down ???" Having the ignition on ( All lights on the dash) will run the battery down alot quicker than not and just having the stereo on!!

Your new head unit wiring loom will have a long green wire, this is the screen activation/hand brake wire, all you need to do is earth it, simple as that. It will then let the screen play any time you like.

As for permanent live, there are loads of places to get this from; best to splice into the red wire on the fag lighter. Whatever you do will need to splice into a live feed.

Yes having the ignition on will flatten the battery quicker the having it wired up permamently but having it on this way will draw more current when the cars left standing

If you must do it this way just join the red and yellow wires together, Kenwood have a spare red bullet for you to do this
