    Knocking noise after suspension change

    As per title within a couple of days of me changing the suspension a horrible knocking noise seems to have appeared.

    Its only coming from the front somewhere.

    Ive checked the tightness of the bolts and the positions that the springs are sitting in - seems fine.

    No sounds are coming from the rear.
    Also changed the droplinks - just incase it could be causing a problem.

    The car is a 54plate H lowered 50mm on the standard 15s.

    I THINK the sound might be coming from the rack n reach link under the drivers side footwell but not 100% sure. Is this common for it need re-adjusting / tightening up after lowering the car?

    Had a look under the car and couldnt see any points of the suspension / steering that might be loose / rubbing on anything etc.

    Its doing my head in now.

    HELP PLEASE!!!!

    yea i used the same top bearing cap that came out from the suspension.

    tbh they felt abit gritty but put sum wd40 over them.
    Might have a look at replacing them completely for new ones.

    Yea may be worth replacing as may have been damaged.
    Think i may end up having to do the same as im fitting new suspension and cant seem to get the bearings out the cap have given it a good beating but if i use any more force i may damage them.

    picked up my bearing caps from VX yesterday. looks like they are in a sealed unit, so cant change them. Cost £16 each.

    Gonna fit them on sat and see if it makes and difference.
    Im still not 100% sure, think its something to do with the steering personally.

    u have to use a flat head screwdriver to seperate the 2 outer covers. Then the metal bearing top comes off and the bearings can be released (bearings and circular fittings)

    I took mine apart and they didnt look too bad tbh still had grease over them.

    I replaced them today and no difference. Still knocks when u are turning the wheel whilst driving at low speed BUT seems to have stopped knocking when u are turning in situ.

    Any more ideas?

    So far ive replaced...

    * all bolts and nuts on the strut
    * U clips holding the strut up (under the bonnet)
    * drop links
    * bearing cap

    starting to get a bit annoying now.

    Have you put the springs in the right way round?

    Only asking cos I fitted some spax in a rush and followed the letters on the springs which where upside down. After I fitted them they knocked

    I believe so but will double check later.

    Sure they can only go 1 way round as one tho
    Dont know why IF they were the wrong way round it would make any difference, surely if they were sitting in the cups properly they wouldnt casue any problems.

    The noise is includes a creakyness somewhere, someone on AON said he had the same problems and replacing the ARB bushes cured it. - mine dont looked worn out tho

    My astra H, 54plate does the same after a 40mm drop and still on standard 15's.

    My springs where fitted by cartec (a well known garage to the NE region), My car has also been looked at twice by the same garage and the garage have checked every possibly thing that could be wrong and cant see what is causing it.
