    Celica Respray

My brother is respraying his celica, he has a post on another forum
    http://www.celica-club.co.uk/forum/i...pic=89063&st=0

Ill post some of the stuff here and try and keep it updated, he will hopefully have it all finished this weekend.

    Well guys,

The time has come to fulfil my childhood dream (my adolescent and adult also) and restore an iconic car. I bought my GT4 3 months ago for £1200. It has 102k on a 1992 with a shed load of receipts dating back to 1992 and all original MOT's .

As soon as I got the car it was left into the local garage for a timing belt and tensioner kit (All other work has been and will be carried out by myself. I just fell its necessary to let the garage do the belt so there is a receipt in case of re-sell).

While it was in I got busy on eBay. The discs were is pretty good condition, so I just purchased EBC redstuff pads. These were fitted along with brand new brake fluid.

A green cotton panel fitted was then installed along with some nice new platinum tipped densos and Castrol Magnatex 10/40 with toyota filter.

Whilst changing the plugs I noticed some oil in the plug wells. I then ordered up new rocket cover gaskets and bolts from toyota and fitted this sealing it with some blue gasket paste and locktite for the bolts. Next on the list was my baileys dump valve and samco hosing. The throttle body was taken off and cleaned up with carb cleaner.

Next was my boost gauge and boost controller for future engine mods.

    But first, I decided that a full re-spray was needed. I got busy last weekend and completely stripped the car inside and out. Some small subtle mods will be made along the way. Mods as follows;

Removal of the old pop up aerial and rear wiper arm
Removal of bump strips and flush old mounting holes
Flushed the headlight washers on bumper. (Would love a CS bumper but the only one I can find in NI is looking £300)

Heres my progress so far, so watch this space. The car will be painted in Audi brilliant red. I love it!!

    WISH LIST

New 5 spoke 17s (tyres undecided)
SS Manifold, De-cat and cat back 3" SS system (undecided but will be quiet)
    CS bumper
    Black leather interior
    Steel headgasket and ARP headbolts
    Bose sound system

    Ok......

    some updates and more pics.

got my paint today. The Audi brilliant red is no more and my custom red is now sitting in the kitchen. I will do a spray card tomorrow night and let you see. Also, will be applying for my full membership tomorrow and get this thread moved to the correct forum. Here are some pics of some moding to the bumper, my parts all waiting a fresh coat and the interior spread over the garage.

    More pics and info tomorrow!

In the garage again tonight and got the compressor and gun set up. Got a bit of colour onto my spoiler and it turned out pretty nice. I cant wait to get stuck into the car this weekend and get it finished!!! Heres some more porn for yous...

Thats my mate showing me the ropes!! Also, thats only one coat with no polishing so the colour isn't true, plus, the pictures are taken with my shitting iphone camera. I have better ones on the SLR but ill be keeping them for my website and the end of this madness!

well started spraying some parts myself this weekend and decided to move to my mates garage as it has alot more space. I got the Wing preped and painted and also the spoiler finished. I primer the bumper but the weather got a bit wet and damp so decided to call it a day! Here some mroe pics and a wee sneaky opne of my mates mr2!

    He using cellulose.

I helped him strip down most of the car and sand down a lot of parts, he is doing the painting by himself, hes never painted anything before so this will be interesting to see.

Hes almost there with it now, he got a bit lazy over the winter, I will post the full project log up here once he is finished, hopefully before the end of the month, still got to refurb the standard wheels with new tyres and spray the wing mirrors.
