The time has come to fulfil my childhood dream (my adolescent and adult also) and restore an iconic car. I bought my GT4 3 months ago for £1200. It has 102k on a 1992 with a shed load of receipts dating back to 1992 and all original MOT's .
As soon as I got the car it was left into the local garage for a timing belt and tensioner kit (All other work has been and will be carried out by myself. I just fell its necessary to let the garage do the belt so there is a receipt in case of re-sell).
While it was in I got busy on eBay. The discs were is pretty good condition, so I just purchased EBC redstuff pads. These were fitted along with brand new brake fluid.
A green cotton panel fitted was then installed along with some nice new platinum tipped densos and Castrol Magnatex 10/40 with toyota filter.
Whilst changing the plugs I noticed some oil in the plug wells. I then ordered up new rocket cover gaskets and bolts from toyota and fitted this sealing it with some blue gasket paste and locktite for the bolts. Next on the list was my baileys dump valve and samco hosing. The throttle body was taken off and cleaned up with carb cleaner.
Next was my boost gauge and boost controller for future engine mods.
But first, I decided that a full re-spray was needed. I got busy last weekend and completely stripped the car inside and out. Some small subtle mods will be made along the way. Mods as follows;
Removal of the old pop up aerial and rear wiper arm
Removal of bump strips and flush old mounting holes
Flushed the headlight washers on bumper. (Would love a CS bumper but the only one I can find in NI is looking £300)
Heres my progress so far, so watch this space. The car will be painted in Audi brilliant red. I love it!!
New 5 spoke 17s (tyres undecided)
SS Manifold, De-cat and cat back 3" SS system (undecided but will be quiet)
Black leather interior
Steel headgasket and ARP headbolts
Bose sound system
