    Question Alarm Recommendations

Not really specific to the MK5 so sticking it in here.

I need recommendations for a good Thatcham approved alarm. After my car being trashed on Friday night, I want something that includes a proximity alarm (the kind that start buzzing at people if they get too close and maybe start 'chirping').

Obviously wouldn't install this myself so it has be installed by a professional.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

Clifford alarms are unbeatable I think. I have seen the Clifford 650 MK2, fully fitted for £299.99 here http://www.cliffordproductsdirect.co...&products_id=5. And they come to you if your in the South East, but as I can see your not I dont know how they go about ammending the price for you, plus fitting would probably be quite dear. Just go to your local car audio centres and get some prices, that is probably your best bet.

Does it already have an alarm on it Martin? I know you can also get security systems that use the CANBus system on the Mk5, noticed it when I was looking at security for mine a while ago. I ended up getting a Toad Thatcham 2-1 upgrade that used my original VX plip

Yep it's got an alarm but it did nothing when the car was trashed. Ideally, I need something that will warn people off and start making noises if people are too close. If they touch it, I want them to be zapped with 2.5k volts but that's a bit impossible.

I understand where you're coming from... but if they're in a mind to vandalise your car, they will do so regardless of what security system you have. It pisses me off too, but that's the nature of the world we live in now

That aside, have a look at the Clifford 330 X3:
