    Rear noise problem

I'm new to this; I have a 2001 registered Astra club estate - 89,000 mlies, 1.6, petrol. There is a low pitched noise/rumble coming from the back. My local garage has driven it and looked at it twice and confirms I'm not imagining it, but can't find anything visually amiss - wheel bearing are OK, he says. Any suggestions? Thanks and appreciation.

the wheel bearing could be on it's way out but not noticeable by rocking the wheel. is it under constant driving or only when applying force ... i.e. changing direction or braking. I know my dads laguna does this and it's because the chassis is riding the subframe due to the bushes been brokened
