    MOT advisory help

    Hello all,
The coupe passed the MOT today, 1st time which was great and only £27 even better lol.

Had a couple of advisories though, a couple of the tyres which i knew about anyway but the two im abit worried about were "Exhaust system corroded" and "dampness around power steering rack"

Its just a standard exhaust and would want to replace it with a standard again, so anyone know a rough cost on a new one? i guess they mean the whole system and its the 1.8 16v type.

Also i dont know anything about th power steering so any help on that would be much appreciated

    Thanks in advance
    Rob

Dont bother getting a standard system from VX as they are expensive. Much better bet to get a quality aftermarket system for the same money, such as Milltek, Remus, Irmscher and so on.

The dampness around the steering rack could be a leak on one of the pipes supplying fluid to the ram that helps turn the rack. I'm not sure where the pump sits to comment if thats at fault. Either way its a slight leak of some sort. Not the end of the world by any length

Good, good, i think ill get it checked at a garage anyway just to be sure.

Im quite into the standard looking cars so dont want anything too loud or anything, and dont want to spend too much, can you reccommend any?

is it loosing much power steering fluid?

you can get a aftermarket cat back exhaust with centre silencer and baffles for less than £200 easily on ebay from cybox or gt3 just message the seller and explain what you want it will growl a bit more than standard tho

I just had the backbox replaced on my 1.8 16v for £60 fully fitted at my local tyre/exhaust place.
