Have you modded it at all yet or is it standard?

May be better off just getting one with a bigger engine and selling yours if it is...

it is as standard as they come, what i want is a kind of sleeper this is my 3rd astra. i git it really really cheap considering the condition and such. i did have a escort a few years ago and was going to do an engine swap for a 2.0l modoe engine for a fee of approx £600 so thats kinda the budget i want to spend if i can, breaks and suspension are on a sep budget along with a few other bits i want to do.

Probably wang an SRI 2.0 or 1.8 16v in for that budget

It'd be easier to g for the 1.8 with it being a small block, so you can still use your pre existing mounts

You'd easy get a superbly good nick 1.8 mk3 for £600 or an older mk4 1.8 for that matter, just peel off the 1.8 logo... lol..

Unless you're not planning on telling the dvla bods... which would be naughty...

i would declare it. Its just this car body work is brilliant plus it has only done 51k miles and underneath is so solid i dont want to get rid of the shell just swap the engine. unless there is anything i can do to add 80bhp or so to the exsisting engine
