    Ben Nevis Hike Info

I am an inexperienced hiker and have only done the Llanberis Trail at Snowdon and the 4 mile Waterfall Trail Walk in Ingleton. I am also not the fittest person around either.

However, I have been thinking of hiking up and down the tourist path at Ben Nevis to raise money for charity. Can someone tell me if anyone here has done this before and how hard is it to complete? also, which month would be the best time to tackle it?

    Thanks

I did it about 7 years ago - it's a very good hike. There's no specific 'good time' with places like this because the weather up there is different from down in the valley.

If you do it, I strongly suggest you take someone who has experience as the weather DOES change *very* quickly. I have friends who have yet to reach the summit as every time they've tried, the weather has turned and they've been told to turn back by the rangers and mountain rescue!

Thanks mate. I have not decided it yet, as there are so many out there.

Thanks mate. I am hoping I can gather a few mates together to do this with me.

Doooo it!!! I want to climb Ben Nevis next year. I have done Scar Fell and Helvellyn.
I'm jealous as my mates are currently en route to Ben Nevis as part of the 3 peak 24hr challenge...

Take someone who can navigate with you!!!

There's a very specific way off the top, and if it's misty and you get it slight wrong, you will most probably end up in either Five Finger or Gardiloo Gully.. and if you do go that way you'll probalby be in the local press.

Other than that the tourist route is just that... a bloody easy long uphill slog

This is beginning to sound a lot harder than I had first imagined.
